What you should know about selling high ticket items online

When setting up a website you tend to know what you're going to be selling on it, and if it's a high ticket item you will need to know a few things first.  Selling a $5 backlink service isn't the same as selling a $1,000 full-scale SEO service, and a lot of buyers will want to talk more when the price tag is higher.

Most of the time when it comes to a high ticket item you will need to meet in person with the client, understand that it takes time to seal the deal, have a contract ready to be signed, and you will need to talk to them on the phone when they want to get in touch.  The more you're asking from them, the more likely you will have to go offline in order to capture the sale, and this is just how big-ticket items work when you're not selling to a billionaire.

You will be taken offline to meet with the clients
When you're selling something that costs significantly more than most things online, you will be asked to meet in person at a business or different location, and this is a normal business practice since a lot of money may be on the line.  You could be selling a $1,000 service or a $1,000,000 car, you will have to go talk to the potential customer in person to show you're actually who you say you are.

The sale takes time to finalize
Higher ticket items aren't bought on a whim because the customer will do extensive research on your in order to see what others are saying.  Online reviews of you and your business will go into factoring whether the potential customer can trust you or not, so hopefully, you have plenty of good content about yourself out there on the web What you should know about selling high ticket items online

The more money something costs, the higher the risk is, and this means someone will want to be sure you're the right service provider or product manufacturer to get the job done right the first time.  This takes plenty of time to close the deal, and you will be happy you put in the effort to do everything right because you will close more deals if you're a patient person.

You may have to get a contract written up and agreed upon
When working with higher ticket items, no matter if it's a one-off purchase or a subscription type sale, you will likely want to set up some sort of contract that locks both of you into the sale.  You can sell a product that needs to be paid for but will void the contract and need to be refunded if it ends up breaking shortly after purchase.  You can also sell a service that will need to be refunded if you don't hold up your end of the deal.

Contracts for higher ticket items are a standard thing because they protect both sides from wrongdoing.  If you screw up, you will refund the customer, but if they are just bad buyers and want a refund... Well, they signed a contract that locked them into the sale and now they aren't getting a free product or service.

You can't be afraid of talking on the phone
Many online entrepreneurs are afraid to talk to someone over the phone, which is why they always have chat and ticket systems on their website.  They will give plenty of options in order for you to contact them, but they will omit their phone number, but with big-ticket items, you can't really do this.

You will need to talk over the phone if you're asking a lot of money for your product or service.  This is a standard type of contact option, which will need to be available to your customers, and you will be happy you listed your number because you'll close more deals.

In conclusion
If you want to seal more big sales, you will need to be able to go meet with them in person and not be afraid of in-person conversations.  If you can talk with people in person, give them plenty of contact options, and run everything as a professional then you will be able to close more high ticket deals than before What you should know about selling high ticket items online

Great tips as always, so thanks for those. I certainly have some experience about time to finalize the sales. Honestly, you can't hope that the client will invest a lot of money without taking it in consideration, I mean I totally understand the client. The issue comes when the seller gets desperate, and becomes annoying pushy. That's one of the worst things a seller can do. A client that feels pressured will end up getting rid of the deal.

A good business owner is one who fully understands the client not only about business but also in other aspects that the client may open up. My sister-in-law has that gift of gab that she could engage her clients in casual chat that sometimes I see the client lingering in her store for hours just for the casual chat that obviously the client was enjoying. With that scenario I could surmise that the client will be a loyal client.

Very thankful for this advice, Tommy. I agree that it will really take time before the client to sign the papers. You really need to have a lot of patience and understanding. Be considerate to your client because they will be putting a lot of money on you so they really need to trust you before they finalize the deal.

Patience is very important and so is proper understanding. A lot of times that you try to hurry or nag customers they will get bored and hate your services or products. This can howver be reverted by trying to keenly understand the customers and their needs first before trying to sell to them.

I agree because it's really easy to mess up if you don't have the patience. It can be a hindrance to your objectives. Sometimes we tend to give up when we almost have it and can definitely impact how you relate to customers. Either by giving up too early or not being able to understand their needs.

Exactly. Impatience is an enemy of success and in many cases hurrying something will only make you have and experience the uncooked version. You can easily wait for the full idea to mature and then get to reap the full benefits with a desirable level of patience.

True that much investment always causes a lot of red flags to be raised. It is as such always wise to wait and give the clients sufficient time in such a way that they can fully handle and make an informed decision.

Like anything you sell on the internet, meeting up in person is always reassuring. It shows trust and respect on both parties. It negates that eerie feeling of uncertainty when you are wondering if something is legit or not.

I agree with you. Meeting personally will make to trust each other. It also shows that you are serious in the deal. You will be more relief that you will not be engaging into a scam .

There's also the anxiety of meeting the person and wondering if they are going to do something bad or what. I don't know if it's just me being paranoid. Though in a business setting, I doubt if anyways is completely paranoid-free. It's safe to assume that everyone has their guard up for the potential scam and sly talking in business.

A scam is what most people would think or try to avoid when it comes to high-value transactions so meeting up personally takes it to a higher level of trust. Although it doesn't really end there, you still have to do few more to prove that you are legit and also, it will pave ways to understand customer's needs.

100% agree with needing to be prepared to actually converse with someone. It would be a red flag to me if someone only had chat-based options on their website without any phone number or other details. It alleviates people's concerns about high value purchases if they can talk with you about it directly.

Sometimes they may have more questions to ask about what you are selling products probably just to hear from you and this is where we should be doing more to ensure that our chat options are up and doing everyday.

People are naturally cautious when it comes to spending on high-value transactions and that's why it has to be face to face and takes time. They need to be reassured that they are spending their money wisely and that you are legit. It's necessary to keep all communication options open.

Meeting the clients in person has a higher chance of closing a deal. It is a great way of communication between the customers and the seller. By seeing your potential customer in person, you will be able to promote your service or product in the best possible way. You are gaining not only trust but also building a good relationship with your customer. As a customer, I will appreciate if a seller would put an effort into meeting me in person. Because the possibility of getting the desired value of the product is higher when we have a face to face conversation.

I think high ticket items selling also reduces your stress. So you should be understanding about the small details about it. And on that note you can see that lot of small things can be rebuild. So depending on how you manage those things it'd be reasonable to work with the high ticket items first. And then continue building the items that can bring the consistent sales. I guess this applies to both creators and the affiliates.

It's a must I could say to set up contracts. Both ends should really be very cautious in dealing with high- value transactions. Working from a disputes department, contracts are normally our requirement in handling the case. It has to be in black and white to protect both parties.

This is indeed a worth sharing article for people who are doing businesses. Negotiation is a must and most specifically if it is about about selling high ticket items online. I would have to agree with you that 'you will be taken offline to meet with the clients.' Meeting them personally can also add up with establishing a good foundation of 'trust.'

Some customers are taking a long time finalizing a deal. It does not mean that they are not interested with the products or with the services you offered. Products and services that cost more than others are into evaluation. I would have to agree with 'the sale takes time to finalize.' Trust is always important in any business dealings and patience is always a virtue.

This is true as you wouldn't expect such a client to just pay you a huge amount of money without first taking out time to see the whole details about the products that they are trying to buy. So, it is never an easy task when you are selling products that are quite expensive on the internet, but having the tips stated above make everything easier.

I would have to agree with you. The tips on this article make everything easier for sellers to sell even the most expensive product they have.

Having said that, 'many online entrepreneurs are afraid to talk to someone over the phone' is one of the factors I really do not understand with some online sellers. I honestly believe that providing only a chat support for your customers will give a negative feedback and review on your business name. Thus, it is customer's right to have a phone number to contact when things are unacceptable. I have seen many online websites and sellers that do not provide a contact number therefore it also affects the 'trust and additional sales' that your potential customer can give you.

It is true that communication is important in business. It is necessary in creating your market. You won't be able to have customers for your business. You should not be afraid to talk to your customers because in the first place you should be confident for your product. A contract is also important to lock your deal because that will be your Alas or your winning card when you have something to dispute about your deal. Above are great tips to grow your business especially when you're selling something that costs very high.

Communication is the greatest asset that we have as human beings and I can only say that it is crucially important in business. Without it being proper then the understanding is poor too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Communication really plays an important role. In this instance, you have to take it up a notch and meet customer face to face as it involves a larger amount. You have to exert extra effort and be more patient too to meet the customer's needs. They will have more queries and concern more than the usual as they need to know if it's worth their money and is legit.

Being able to meet the people that you are doing any form of business with in person is a great way to tighten the relationship, so as we can see, it is never that easy for those that feel that they are not going to make some appointments happen when they know that they are selling stuffs that cost a whole lot of money on the internet as well.

Online communication cannot surpass a relationship or rapport built face to face. We all know the difference between online communication and face to face communication wherein people can really see how genuine a person is based on facial expressions, actions, and gestures. Customers would usually request to see the seller in person for them to test personally how legit a transaction is. Again, it's because of the amount involved which is often necessary.

I guess this kind of selling is for the professionals because I know it is not easy to handle negotiations that involve big amounts. I have an aunt who sells big real estate for companies who want to build buildings and malls. My aunt said that she invests a lot of time and money not to mention her gift of gab. But just one good deal and she had earned tenfold of her investment. My aunt is really good in selling and not anybody can do what she is doing.

We need to enhance our negotiation skills when we are selling high ticket items. Mostly, this are one time sell that if you closed a deal you will enjoy a big profit from. I remember the time when I was told to negotiate to sell my relatives farm lot which is about 10 hectares. The buyer would like to make sure the legality of the paper works that is to be done. The profit I receive from that sale earned me a profit substantial enough to buy me a car.

Good reminder. Honestly, it's really hard to give trust even to those trusted by many clients if it involves big amount of money. Nevertheless, making sure that the person is genuine and true to his words is the best prevention to avoid great loss. Especially transacting via online.

These are very helpful points. Well, dealing with a big amount of money is too risky and definitely involves a lot of effort. You should be very cautious with your actions and services because they may make or break your business.
