Honestly I don't have my own blog for now since I only have a limited knowledge when it comes to blogging, I really want to have it in the future because of having some great income which I know most people dream about. I am still in the process of learning more about blogging and I am optimistic that I can have it in the future. I know that blogging is a tough tasks since it deals a lot of patience and hard work in order to earn and to succeed from it but I am not losing of hope that I can make it someday.

I have plan to do some blog but I don't know what kind of topic I would put in my website. I have created a website blog one but I just left it as is. Maybe I have to learn some few tips to those bloggers how they do it.

Well, you must have an imaginative mind if you want to start a blog, and it's needed to be attractive to the other people so they won't feel boring visiting your site.

Same with me. Though I'm really hoping to be successful through blogging in the future, I still believe that I have to plan it well and put my time, skills and effort well to my chosen craft.

Though I'm really hoping to be successful through blogging in the future, I still believe that I have to plan it well

About planning - - -

I've heard that it is possible to build an audience long before you even start blogging. What you do before you launch your blog is do a lot of guest blogging. Each of your articles must have a well-defined and persuasive call to action asking readers to opt in for email notifications so they know when you launch your blog. How effective this strategy is I can't tell because I haven't used it myself.

Like you I also dream of having a blog of my own but not for the purpose of earning but more for the expression of my passion. It’s nice to be writing about what you want because it is an outlet of emotions. If you have experienced writing about your baby then you will know what I am talking about in terms of emotion. But I agree that a blog can be a source of good income especially when there are countless readers who visit your site regularly.

When it comes to blogs and profit, I see a two-way street.
First is the absolute blogger who has one main blog that generates all the profit. You can consider such a blog a success when you cover an average monthly salary in your country from that blog. This is very complicated to achieve and may take a few years of passion and dedication until you can earn enough from your blog that you won't need a day job.
Personally, this always was a dream of mine, to have just one website, popular enough so that I don't need to work anymore, I'll work just for me.

But as I said, few people reach such a stage, and I only know a few that actually earn a decent monthly salary from one blog.

The second way of earning from blogs is to have multiple blogs or a whole network. This means you won't be dedicated just to one site, therefore most probably you will need help creating content, and the actual quality may be put into question on the long run, to make matter worse this choice will most certainly kill all the passion related to blogging.
But there are plenty of marketers out there doing it, and some can actually generate a lot of money. In my opinion, it is only worth the effort if you will be learning an above average monthly salary in your country by choosing this method.

Buttom line, I believe success is defined by your current economic status. What is a low income for some, may be ideal for others.

I don't have any idea how much earnings will be considered success. I am not a blogger nor doesn't own a forum. I am not good at it. Besides, I don't have much time since I have a day job. But, it's interesting to know and learn the concept behind it. I might venture it one of these days.

I don't have a blog but I am planning to have one. Making a blog is a careful process that needs to be done properly. One of the reasons I wanted to have a blog was also because of income. I wanted to train more before I proceed to do this.

I do not have a successful blog yet but I've heard from a successful blogger that in order for your blog to be successful. You have to put in value first into what you are creating. That is the track that I want to take. To make sure that I will produce only a high quality website or blog that can add value to our society and from there, lets see where will my blog take me.

I agree. Making your contents valuable will make you appreciate more of your abilities. On that way,you can make such services with good quality. You just have to maintain that in order to be successful.

I think that it all depends on your economic status since you cannot compare the needs of a person that has few dependents eg a single individual with one who is married with kids. Also, it is about growing as even with success that is stagnant the needs will rise over time meaning that you ought to upgrade your earnings as time passes.

I'm not sure of how much may be earned from blogging but I have seen one of my friends haf a decrnt amount of income from blogging. From that day, I consider doing a blog someday looking if I will earn the same amount as she does. Well, as long as I could pay my data plan and buy some things for myself, I could consider my blog to be succesful by then.

If you're running a blog just to make money then you should quit while you're ahead, or behind - depending on your situation. The money end of a blog or website will always be a work in progress. Mostly because the work itself, never stops. You should try instead to earn money through other means until your blog catches fire and the advertising offers or adsense money comes trickling in.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Agree completely. I think since most blogs rarely turn a profit, especially in the beginning, then if you’re getting into it solely for financial gain then you’re gonna be left disappointed. If you write about what you love it’s easier to enjoy your blog and if money comes from it then that’s just an added bonus.

For me, I would have to earn at least $500 per month to even put it in the category of "success". If your blog is making even $100 per month, that is great. This usually seems to indicate whether or not your blog will be a continued success. If your blog has around, say $100, per month from Google Adsense then you are on the right track. Keep blogging, keep creating content. Google loves content, the more content you push out the more Google will love your website. Throw on some good keywords and you got yourself a little money making generator.

I hope to at least earn $500 per month from a new blog of mine which actually hosts other authors. However I would need to pay these authors to post on the site because I have zero time for writing. If all goes well I hope to in the end make at least $5,000 per month in profit from the blog. This could potentially take a while though.

That much a month would be amazing - that’s more than a lot of people’s full time jobs! Would be over the moon if I could be earning those kinds of figures from blogging!

I don't have my own blog and I am not aware of how much you should earn to consider it as a successful blog. This is something that I also want to know from those who own blog. But for me, if I will have my own blog in the future, I would like to earn at least 400 USD per month so that I can say that I am successful in this niche.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I’d be really happy with $400 a month just from a blog. I’ve got a number of other online endeavors too, so if I could earn $400 just from blogging I’d have a pretty comfortable monthly income.

Right! I live here in the Philippines and 400 USD per month is a decent income. And with the fact that I am single, I can even save money from this amount.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
That's awesome that you'd still be able to save money off that kind of money a month! Sadly where I live that wouldn't cover even my rent, but since my husband works full time right now, whatever I earn online is just an added bonus.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Oh I see. The reason why I can still save money from this amount is that I live with my sister and father. All of us are working and we share with all the expenses in the house. If I will earn 400 USD amount per month, I can save the 230 USD per month.

There's no doubt it however running a blog is a funny thing. I've seen those who make shitloads of cash from running a blog and their blogs are quite average in my view. I've also seen individuals who I think write simply properly and they infrequently make a cent.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Haha, this is very true...and most of the time these “successful bloggers” that write terribly are just good looking and have a following because they’re “celebrities”.

Sad that people value looks over legitimate content but that’s our world these days!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
"Success" is a subjective term. Not all blogs are created with the intention of making money for the owner of the blog. They just want their message to be heard and if many people visit their blog and read what they've posted that's success for them.

For those who are in it for profit, success would depend on how much money and time you put into the blog. If it makes more money than they spend on it, that blog is successful. On the other hand there are those who expect that blog to be their primary source of income. Again here how much that would be depends on where that person lives.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I loved that you redefined success as not just a monetary thing - it’s an important concept to remember. If we’re all just fueled simply by money then it’s likely that the blog content won’t be heartfelt and sincere.

I would consider my Blog successful if I'm earning $300 upwards monthly from it. It's just a Blog no hopes of earning tens of thousands from it. When I was concentrating on Blogging a few year back the most I've earned from online and offline blogging income was around $250 a month, that's the highest I've attained on a part time basis as an events blogger.

Can we get real here. Blogs themselves do not earn any money. The advertising with the blog earns the money and you need the footfall to stay long enough for the advertising to be worth having on the blog and enough people to create a click through rate. Nobody earns from the blog, except the content draws them to it. I would be happy to have a blog making me $10 a day passive income, but I am sure there are better earners here who can give you better wisdom.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I’ve sometimes seen people earn from creating posts themselves, in collaboration with companies. Essentially like writing paid advertorial reviews. It can seem really fake though a lot of the time, like a blogger is just being a sellout.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

HappyLady
This is an avenue I should explore. However, it would be a shame to end up looking fake for the sake of a few ££'s. I do notice youtube catbloggers are often able to promote cat food on their videos, and I have thought of doing that, but I am still updating and improving everything.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Others call them sponsored posts. I've heard though that search engines can penalize you if you don't inform your readers that you've been paid to post these articles. How they'll find out I don't know but to be on the safe side you could disclose that fact, unpleasant though it might be, to your readers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think any earnings would be deemed as a success - if you're turning any kind of profit that's wonderful. If we're talking more about how much I'd want to be earning to solely focus on a blog as a job, I'd say about $1000 a month would be enough for me. I'd be thrilled if I could earn that kind of money for a blog, but I think it's difficult these days to be a break-out sensation like that.

In my opinion one should be earning atleast 1000 USD $ for calling the blogging reasonable. The point being the issue is that earning is less likely to be consistent. And people can decide if that sort of earning is going to be consistent. I'd be surely taking more risk in such case if you ask me. I personally think that on monthly basis you have to focus on how much you can scale. That should be your focus.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
The inconsistency in earnings can be very tough to deal with as any kind of freelancer. I think that any time you have a particularly successful month it’s wise to save some for a rainy day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
It's not easy to be honest. Having like say 1000 USD this month and 0 the next is harder to handle. That is one reason I never consider low paying job as freelancing. Like say if it earns less than 100 dollar a month for you, it's not freelancing it's a hobby. That's what I have learned.

I used to read stories about adsense publishers making over 20k a month. But I think since adsense has made so many changes to how they register clicks, those stories are few and far between now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Adsense earning for many has been reduced a lot. Thanks to adblockers. Earning online is now harder. So the thing is that many have moved to affiliate marketing. And they seem to be focusing on converting their links and landing pages. Some have also moved to the products and service based business online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
Adsense is not affected by most ad blockers though. It's usually third party ads that get censored by that type of software.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
No adsense is definitely affected. I remember one site I used to visit in 2015 which used to earn 2400$ USD from adsense. And now that site is earning 200$ USD now. It seems like adblocker seems to be affecting a lot of blogs there. So it is affecting but most of the time affiliate earning replacing it people are forgetting about this.

Hi there!
I'd say I would love to be a top blogger, making it my primary job, but sadly it's currently highly unlikely, so having it as a passive income would be very sufficient. I use it to advertise online investment platforms and share my affiliation ref link. So I make around $30 monthly. Overall, as a top blogger I would like to earn around $500-1000.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
I think $500-1000 is still low considering the top bloggers get the most of the traffic. And it can be seriously harder to work with the content and the backlinks. I have learned from the experience that on monthly basis one should be focusing on higher amount 2000$ then he may get lower than that. Because 500$ target means it may get even lower with changing industry.

I have no blog of my own yet but for sure I will create my own blog sooner or later. Right now my plan is to fortify that blog with quality contents that’s why I am already collecting ideas for my planned blog. My niche is pets and I know that my blogs should be different in order to stand out. I just hope that I would be able to get a good number of regular readers when I launch it. About the earnings? I cannot guess right now.

Whatever a person does for a living, success (outside the work milieu) is often measured by how much they make. So my answer to your question is, "enough money". We must also consider that success is not only measured in earnings. You might be quite successful at what you do, given that your delivery is what is expected of you. In this light, some people consider themselves successful bloggers based on how much traffic they generate. Not how much money they make.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Franzel2oo
The question then is, what does success mean to you?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think the only way you can say that consider your blog to be successful is when it is earning an amount higher than your early months. Aside from that, it should be constant. A one time big time earning for a month doesn't mean your blog is a success. You have to strive on maintaining your content and improving it. You can also use the list of your earnings each month and compare them. Then you can see which aspect affects your earnings and use that as a strategy.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think when we mean success on our blog is that we are earning a good amount of money that can give us a good living. It is very hard to earn a decent income at blogs because it needs a lot of expertise and patience and I really admire those people who are making it possible to generate income on their blogs

The first self-development book I ever read always emphasized on thinking big. And I have learned to agree with this motivational moto. Anthony Robbins always says that if you aim of average you will get mediocre, if you aim for good you will get great. If you aim for excellent you will get great. I wonder why everyone is aiming so low. To be successful as a blogger I would want to make $10,000 a month.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I don't really have an exact number to say that I would have to be earning that amount for my bolg to be successful, I think it would really just depend on if I was still considering my blog a hobby or my main source of income. It's it's just a hobby then $10 to $20 a month in revenue would be considered sucessful for me. It's not really part of my income just a nice little extra addition. If it's my main source of income, then the blog would need to generate at least $500 a month so I could support my lifestyle, which at this point is already pretty minimalistic.

In order to be able to do this successfully, I'll need to provide proof that i have received payment from these sites. I've joined many of them now and once i start receiving payment I will start a blog. To consider my blog successful, i would have begun earning a steady $500 per month

Earning though blogging is one of my plans in near future. I am planning to earn from advertising, affiliate marketing and perhaps selling my own products too. I have been reading some blogs, especially mom blogs, and many of them have great success even though they are taking care of the kids, the home and the blogging business. I hope to learn from them. I would be happy if I can earn $100 a month at the beginning, but I would be happy and think it's successful if I am able to earn $1000 a month. Though there are bloggers who earn much more than that, I will be very happy to make $1000 a month.
