I'm going to blow you all out of the water with my suggestion now. I've tried many free rank trackers such as those already mentioned here plus a plethora of other free rank trackers in the past 10 years of doing SEO and IM online.

One of the best free rank trackers to date quite simply hands down is: proranktracker.com which really is as it says on the tin the "Most Comprehensive Rank Tracking & Reporting Solution" which provides you with "the most up to date, easy to analyze SEO ranking information on all your websites, so you can stay one step ahead of the competition and maximize your profits." Using even the free version you will get a complete picture of your rankings and be able to analyze the results of your SEO.

The free version lets you track up to 2 URLs and up to 20 terms per URL. You also get local and mobile tracking and access to the PRT mobile app which is just as comprehensive as the desktop version. There really are tons of features some of them off the top of my head are multi user management, shared reports and daily email reports of rank changes, a WP plugin to view your sites rankings from your WP dashboard, and ability to download reports in different formats, PDF, XLS, CSV etc which are all completely brandable.

I really cannot rate PRT enough and think its the best rank tracking service of them all. The paid plans are even more powerful and allow you to track even more URLs and terms but the free plan is perfectly adequate enough anyway for most webmasters.

Good luck!

Thanks for posting this discussion because I am learning SEO and keyword is not yet on my priority list because I take it slow lest I get confused. I didn’t know that keywords have also a ranking of their own and I presume that if the ranking is high that means it is very popular and vice versa if the ranking is low. I guess website owners will want to monitor the ranking of the keywords that they have used.
