Is flipping domain names good source of income?

Years ago i was reading some forums where i understood that flipping domain names can be very profitable business, specially when you focus on short named .COM TLD?

I tried that, but cost's of renewals were piling up and it was hard to determine which domain names will have real value in future...

What you think how is this business doing now? Is it still worth investing in domain names to flip them after?

It is still profitable today if you know how to do it. However, it is quite hard and you need to know what you are doing. Pretty much all the good domains have been taken by someone and you will probably need to buy it from someone for a pretty high price and hope to sell it for more. However, this is risky as finding a buyer itself is a very hard job, especially if you have no connections with potential buyers. When you buy domains, you should go for short ones but also make sure that they mean something. An advice I will give you is to look out for the release of new domain extensions and then try to buy short domains with these extensions.

I know many people who do that as a hobby. And this can be one good source of income. But it can't replace the day job. As such income has it's ups and downs. And one has to look forward to how to save money and properly use the domains earnings. Not many people can do this if you ask me. Some just are lucky with good price on domains.

I know some people who make quite a lot from flipping domain names as a hobby. The key similarities are that these people are always well-informed of current trends and creative. However, I myself am not looking to do this as I find it unreliable income.

I have just about 50 domains. I am only using 10 domains for myself and rest of the domains are parked, Primary purpose of registering so many domains was to make money through. I have listed my domains on sites such as flippa and sedo. However, I have not been able to sell any domains yet. Yes youn can make money by flipping domain, however, the job is not easier. It takes lot of money to hold a domain. I recently renewed my domains and it cost me $200, a financial burden.

I have never done this but from what I understand my son and his friend bought a bunch of website domains. My son then worked on writing articles and made the sites look good then put them up for sale. It seems selling domains is a good idea especially if they are health-related domain names.

If you don’t have an experience in domain flipping then maybe you can try by buying 1 or 2 domains just to learn the ropes. In any selling business, it is the marketing that matters because if you are weak in marketing then you might be left with those domains that you couldn’t sell which means you have lost money in that investment. I think there is a site that is a market for used domains.
